1,187 State-funded 13MP projects worth RM49.98 bln approved, RM2.2 bln spent in Q1 2026

KUCHING, May 20: Under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), a total of 1,187 State-funded projects with a ceiling of RM49.98 billion have been approved, with RM9.3 billion allocated for the first year of implementation in 2026, of which RM2.2 billion has already been spent in the first quarter of 2026.

Deputy Premier and Second Minister of Finance and New Economy Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas disclosed that the approved 13MP projects comprise 823 physical projects or 69 per cent, while 364 projects or 31 per cent are non-physical initiatives, including grants, contributions, investments, programmes and events.

“On the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP), a total of 1,391 State-funded projects with a ceiling of RM39.79 billion had been approved. Of these, 986 projects or 71 per cent were physical projects, while 405 projects or 29 per cent were non-physical components.

“As of Dec 31, 2025, which marked the final year of the 12MP, 391 out of 986 physical projects or 40 per cent had been completed, while 595 projects or 60 per cent were at various stages of implementation. The cumulative expenditure, including non-physical projects, stood at RM37.1 billion or 93 per cent of the total 12MP ceiling,” he said in his ministerial winding-up speech at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly Sitting today.

For federal-funded initiatives under the Fifth Rolling Plan of the 12MP, he said the federal government approved RM5.7 billion for 1,206 projects in the State.

“Of this, RM4.6 billion or 80 per cent had been expended as of December 2025. A total of 390 projects or 32 per cent were completed, while 816 projects or 68 per cent remained under implementation,” he said.

Meanwhile, under the First Rolling Plan of the 13MP, RM5.99 billion has been approved for 1,100 projects, with RM1.2 billion or 20 per cent expended.

As of April 2026, he said 195 projects or 18 per cent have been completed, while the remainder are at various stages of implementation.

Uggah emphasised that the Sarawak government remains committed to expediting project implementation to ensure the objectives under the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 are achieved, while also strengthening proactive measures to address emerging challenges in project execution. — DayakDaily
