12 SUPP Southern Zone Youth sections ink commitment to boost cooperation, develop young leaders

KUCHING, Sept 20: Youth representatives from 12 Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) branches have pledged to strengthen cooperation, expand community service, and nurture young leaders across southern Sarawak through the signing of the SUPP Southern Zone Youth Commitment 2026.

The signing was the highlight of the SUPP Southern Zone Youth Night 2026, which brought together the Youth Sections of Kuching, Pending, Batu Lintang, Batu Kitang, Kota Sentosa, Batu Kawa, Serian, Simanggang, Bau, Mambong, Tarat, and Tupong and was witnessed by party president Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian and Youth Central chairman Kevin Lau Kor Jie.

Under the commitment, the 12 Youth Sections pledged to serve their communities, develop young leaders, strengthen the party organisation, and support one another across branch and constituency boundaries.

They also affirmed their readiness to coordinate their efforts and carry out responsibilities entrusted to them by the party with discipline and dedication in preparation for the 13th Sarawak Election.

Organising chairman and SUPP Kuching Branch Youth chief Wung Duk Ying said the signing demonstrated the determination of the 12 Youth Sections to strengthen cooperation and contribute collectively to Sarawak’s development.

“The signing is only the beginning. We must turn our commitment into action and our unity into strength,” he said.

Wung said the Southern Zone Youth Sections would expand cooperation in community service, youth activities, leadership training, and organisational development by sharing resources and grassroots experience.

He added that the broader objective was to support efforts to unite the strength of SUPP Youth throughout Sarawak, strengthen young people’s sense of belonging and Sarawak identity, and encourage younger Sarawakians to contribute to Sarawak’s nation-building journey.

In his address, Dr Sim described youths as the party’s future and encouraged them to take an active role in community service, training, and organisational work.

He said the younger generation’s strengths in technology, digital tools and new methods of communication could bring fresh ideas and greater innovation to the organisation.

Dr Sim urged young members not merely to participate in activities, but also to apply their creativity and technological abilities in practical party and community work.

“The Youth Section was an important platform for young members to gain experience, understand grassroots issues, and prepare themselves to undertake greater responsibilities in the future,” said Dr Sim.

Meanwhile, Lau urged Sarawakians to value and safeguard the State’s hard-earned political stability amid uncertainties in Peninsular Malaysia’s political landscape.

He said political stability was essential for economic development, improved livelihoods, and the implementation of long-term plans.

He also encouraged the Youth Sections to turn the signed commitment into concrete action and nurture responsible, capable young leaders who could contribute to Sarawak’s future.

The Kuching Branch Youth Section initiated the event and jointly organised it with the Youth Sections of Pending, Batu Lintang, Batu Kitang, Kota Sentosa, and Batu Kawa.

It provided a platform for Youth members from different branches to exchange grassroots experience, discuss community and organisational issues, and communicate their views directly to the party leadership.

The organisers expressed hope that the signing would mark the beginning of closer and more consistent cooperation among the Southern Zone Youth Sections in community service, youth development and organisational activities. — DayakDaily
