Firefighters work to bring the blaze under control.
PUTATAN (Jan 22): A blaze at Kampung Dumpil here this morning left 15 families homeless.
Putatan fire station chief Noor Sherriyana Bohari said no injuries were reported in the incident.
“Acting on an emergency call at 6.59am, a total of 22 personnel from the Kota Kinabalu and Penampang fire stations were despatched to the village.
“The blaze was brought under control by 8am, and the operation was wrapped up at 12.51pm after overhaul works were carried out,” she said.
Noor Sherriyana said the flames spread quickly as the 15 affected houses were all built close to each other.
“The cause of the fire and total loss is under investigation,” she added.
Meanwhile, the majority of the fire victims were placed at the Putatan community hall, while others are sheltering with family members.
