KUCHING (Feb 26): The Serian Regional Water Supply Project Phase 2 has reached 56.38 per cent completion as of Wednesday, surpassing its scheduled target of 54.13 per cent.

The large-scale project entails the construction and upgrading of the area’s water supply system, including main grid pipelines, distribution pipelines and reticulation systems, as well as elevated water tanks and booster pump stations.

“As of Feb 25, 2026, the project’s physical progress has reached 56.38 per cent, exceeding the original plan of 54.13 per cent as a result of close monitoring and systematic implementation of works,” the Sarawak Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) said in a Facebook post.

“The project is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2027.”

Upon full completion, the project is expected to benefit 900 households, involving approximately 5,000 residents across 50 villages around Serian, while addressing several existing issues in the affected areas.
