KOTA KINABALU (Feb 28): The number of flood victims in Beaufort, Membakut, Sipitang and Tenom districts climbed slightly to 6,732 taking refuge at 32 temporary flood relief centres (PPS) here today.

The Sabah Disaster Management Committee in a statement said that Tenom recorded the highest number of flood evacuees, with 4,491 people from 1,507 families taking refuge in 22 PPS, followed by Beaufort with 1,462 people from 467 families sheltering in five PPS.

In Membakut, 441 people from 173 were evacuated to PPS, while 329 people from 146 families were taking refuge in two PPS in Sipitang.

The flood evacuees comprise 2,111 men, 2,318 women, 1,165 boys and 1,138 girls.

It said the Civil Defence Force (APM), the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) and other agencies will continue to monitor the flood situation.
