MIRI (Oct 1): An earth-breaking ceremony for Miri Tzu Chi’s Jing Si Hall will be held on Nov 10, with 600 people from across Malaysia and Taiwan expected to attend the special event.

Located at the junction of Hill Top Garden here, Jing Shi Hall will be the first of its kind to be built in East Malaysia, with the cost expected to exceed RM20 million.

“Fundraising activities have been very challenging due to threats posed by the pandemic and the slowdown in economic growth, yet we persevered.

“We are deeply grateful for the support and contributions from all sectors. So far, the funds collected have yet to reach the targeted amount. We would like to appeal to the public to continue their support and continue donating,” said Miri Tzu Chi in a statement.

It added that Jing Si Hall represents a serene and sacred Buddhist centre that is designed to purify hearts, and that once completed, will allow visitors to experience peace and harmony upon entering the hall.

“It also will serve as a training centre for volunteers, nurturing seeds of goodness in society.

“It is important to note that with increased number of volunteers, more families will receive aid, children will have access to education, and the sick will receive treatment, brightening the dark corners of Miri society.

“The centre will also be used as a community education centre, hosting various activities and courses to spread positive energy to the public,” it said.

After the earth-breaking ceremony, a series of fundraising initiatives will be launched, anticipating support from the public towards the construction of the centre.
