Deputy Premier and Second Minister for Natural Resources and Urban Development Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said the initiative reflects the government’s continued commitment to ensuring the sustainability of urban renewal efforts in the State.

“A total of 94 housing units are currently under construction under the Darul Hana Phase III Development Project and are expected to be completed by the end of next year,” he said during his ministerial winding-up speech at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) sitting today.

The remaining 26 housing units in Sungai Bedaun will be distributed this year as part of efforts to address the needs of Additional Heads of Household through the provision of 209 housing units under the Urban Renewal Project.

Awang Tengah added that, under the Kampung Datu Redevelopment Project in Sibu, 93 houses in Kampung Datu Baru have already been allocated, while the remaining 11 units are expected to be distributed this year.

He further said that site preparation works for Kampung Datu Lama Block A are currently underway as part of the ongoing redevelopment project in Sibu.

Meanwhile, under the Kemuyang Development Project in Sibu, 137 out of 150 housing units have been allocated to additional heads of household from Kampung Datu, parts of Kampung Baharu, and parts of Kampung Hilir.

“The remaining 13 units will also be distributed this year,” he said. — DayakDaily
