The fake post screengrab on social media. – Handout from AADK
MIRI (Feb 14): The National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) Sarawak has denied claims circulating on social media about two of its female staff members in Miri being arrested for alleged bribery relating to drug cases.
The agency, on its official Facebook page, said the viral post was false.
“The information is completely untrue.
“A thorough review has confirmed that the image used in the post was edited or manipulated using AI (artificial intelligence), giving a misleading impression that could damage the agency’s reputation,” said AADK Sarawak.
The post that went viral was posted by a Facebook account with handle ‘ProficientGrapefruit1860’, showing a photo of two female AADK Miri staff members in handcuffs, and it was claimed that they were detained by the authorities, alleging that they asked and received RM2,000 to settle a number of drug cases.
AADK Sarawak also advised the public not to share or spread unverified information and urged everyone to refer only to its official social media channels for accurate and verified updates.
