KUCHING, April 6: Abdul Latif Family Team emerged champions in style at the 58th edition of the N.15 Asajaya Unity Cup Football Championship 2026 after defeating Camutes FC 3-0 in the final at the Kampung Sambir football field yesterday (April 5), taking home RM7,000 in prize money.
According to a report by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), the final at Arena Sambir got off to an energetic start following the symbolic kick-off by Sarawak Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development and Asajaya assemblyman Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
Abdul Latif Family Team opened the scoring in the 26th minute through Mohd Hafiz Abu Bakar before Mohd Adif Salim doubled the lead in the 54th minute.
Izray Roslan then sealed a convincing 3-0 victory with a goal in added time (60+), confirming the team’s dominance and crowning them as champions.
With the win, Abdul Latif Family Team received RM7,000 along with the championship trophy and medals, while runners-up Camutes FC took home RM5,000.
The third-placed team in the open category earned RM3,000, along with a trophy and medals.
Abang Mohd Haiqal of Abdul Latif Family Team was named Best Player of the tournament, while the Top Scorer award went to Mohd Hadera of Tarang FC.
Adding to the excitement, both finalist teams received special jerseys sponsored by LEA Sports Centre under the ADIDAS brand.
Meanwhile, the newly introduced Veteran League (40 years and above) saw Kabitra FC crowned champions after defeating Kelab Bola Sepak Veteran Tambirat (Vettam) 4-1 on penalties following a goalless draw in regulation time.
Kabitra FC walked away with RM1,500 along with a trophy and medals, while the runners-up received RM1,000 and the joint third-placed teams RM500 each.
Organised by Sambir Bistari Football Club in collaboration with the Samarahan Football Association and the Football Association of Sarawak, the tournament once again cemented its status as one of the most prestigious community football competitions in the State.
This year’s edition offered a total prize pool of RM21,500 and introduced the Veteran League category, which attracted 12 teams and strong participation from communities across Samarahan and Kuching. — DayakDaily
