KOTA SAMARAHAN, June 10: The Samarahan Social Welfare Office (PKM) is seeking the biological mother of three children to facilitate welfare and placement matters after they were reported to have been abandoned and neglected since 2024.

According to PKM, the case came to light following a public complaint involving one of the children who was suspected of being neglected by their biological mother, identified as Hazimah Aron.

“The Child Protector received a public complaint regarding a child suspected of being neglected by her biological mother.

“Investigations revealed that the child has two siblings,” said the statement issued on Monday (June 8).

The siblings, Qaireen Zenia Amanda Abdullah (14), Qariel Zafrel Ariffin Zainul (11), and Qairee Zarel Azzib Zainul (8) are currently under temporary care after investigations found that they required protection under the Child Act 2001.

Their father is currently serving a prison sentence, while the whereabouts of their biological mother remain unknown.

The children were previously cared for by their paternal aunt, who is the younger sister of their father.

Investigations also found that the biological mother had allegedly failed to provide adequate care, food, clothing, and shelter for the children, an offence under Paragraph 17(1)(d) of the Child Act 2001.

PKM said efforts are ongoing to trace the biological mother or any close relatives to assist with welfare arrangements, placement matters, and further action by the Child Protector.

The Samarahan Social Welfare Department (JKM) is calling on members of the public with information on the mother or the children’s relatives to come forward and assist with investigations and documentation.

The public may contact the Samarahan Division Social Welfare Office at the Ground Floor, Resident’s Building, 94300 Kota Samarahan, or reach Child Protector Rosita Ramlee at 082-671191 or [email protected].

A court order has been obtained as the children require care and protection, and they are currently placed under the temporary care of a Fit and Proper Person (OYLS) under Sections 25(2)(b) and 19(2)(b) of the Child Act 2001, effective May 25, 2026.

PKM said the presence of the children’s relatives is crucial for permanent placement arrangements and future planning in accordance with the law.

JKM also expressed appreciation to the media and the public for helping to disseminate the information in the best interest of the children. — DayakDaily
