Baby among 25 evacuated as floods strike Kg Beliajung

KOTA MARUDU (March 10): Twenty-five people, including a baby girl, were evacuated from their homes following floods at Kampung Beliajung here on Tuesday.

Kota Marudu fire station chief Debli Mamoi said the evacuees have been relocated to the temporary flood relief centre at SMK Tandek 2.

“The evacuees comprise three men, seven women, nine boys, five girls, and a baby girl. All are in good spirit and are taking temporary shelter at SMK Tandek 2.

“We will continue to monitor the flood situation at Kampung Beliajung and surrounding areas for any emergency situation,” he said in a statement.

The Kota Marudu fire station earlier received an emergency call at 8.16am before deploying nine personnel to the location about 17km away.

No untoward incident was reported.
