KOTA KINABALU (Jan 20): Barisan Nasional (BN) Sabah is taking the lead in coordinating the Sabah unity government’s machinery, with a clear focus on strengthening campaign strategies to secure victories in the Kinabatangan parliamentary and Lamag state by-elections this weekend.
The Sabah unity government coordination meeting, held on Monday night and chaired by BN Sabah chairman and Umno Sabah liaison chairman Datuk Jafry Ariffin, aimed to ensure a more structured mobilisation of party machinery and reinforcing campaign strategies for the by-elections.
Apart from BN, leaders from Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (Upko) and Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) attended the meeting, reflecting strong unity and a shared commitment to ensuring victory for the BN candidates — Mohd Kurniawan Naim Moktar for the Kinabatangan parliamentary seat and Mohd Ismail Ayob for the Lamag state seat.
Jafry underscored the importance of strengthening unity within the state government through cooperation among component parties in the unity government.
He also conveyed his appreciation to Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor, who is also GRS president, for his firm support of the coordination efforts.
He said political stability and effective state governance depend greatly on consensus among component parties in formulating policies that are consistent, inclusive and forward-looking for the benefit of the people.
“These by-elections are not merely political contests, but a matter of the people’s mandate and the future stability of the constituencies. We are moving as one team, with one voice and one goal — to win,” Jafry said.
