KOTA KINABALU (Dec 5): Datuk Seri Panglima Bung Moktar Radin’s brother-in-law Shaheizy Sam has shared a special side to the late politician that few were privileged to witness.
The actor, whose sister Datin Sri Zizie Izette Abdul Samad married Bung Moktar in 2009, said the latter was very different at home from his public persona as a politician.
“The Bung we often see at Parliament is different from the Bung when he was at home and with his constituents.
“He is a different person at home. It is rare to even hear him raise his voice and get angry at his children. I personally have never heard him raise his voice,” he told reporters at Masjid Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu where funeral prayers were held.
Shaheizy said at Parliament, Bung was a totally different person.
“He was very aggressive,” he said.
This contrasted greatly from the man that Bung’s family knew.
“He was so soft with his children. To me, he was the perfect brother-in-law,” he said.
Shaheizy also pointed out that Bung was very caring towards his constituents.
“Even if they came to see him at 4am, he would not turn them away. It is a great loss.”
He also shared that it was clear Bung was already unwell during the Sabah election campaign period.
He added he last met Bung on election day.
“Could see he was lacking vigour and seemed tired,” he said.
Bung passed away at 1.46am at Gleneagles Kota Kinabalu Hospital. He was 66.
