SIBU (March 29): Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) Dudong chairman Datuk Teo Boon Siew called on party members to give their full support to party president Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing to retain the top post uncontested in the upcoming national party leadership election.

He said PDP has continued to strengthen under Tiong’s leadership and enjoys growing support and confidence from the people.

“For the sake of maintaining the party’s stability and unity, the president’s post should not be challenged.

“At the same time, our division also fully supports the president to defend the Dudong seat in the next Sarawak election so that development in the area can continue for the well-being of the people,” he said.

Teo was presenting the division’s resolution tabled at the PDP Dudong Tri-Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the Durin Town Basketball Court here yesterday.

He said the Sarawak Legislative Assembly had approved 17 new constituencies, and PDP’s central leadership must work diligently to secure seats that rightfully belong to the party.

He added that Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) would uphold its team spirit and ensure that the allocation of the new seats will be done fairly and reasonably.

Teo also urged party members to remain united, work closely together, and stay vigilant against external elements attempting to undermine party cohesion.

“Community leaders and local councillors entrusted with responsibility must continue to serve the people and act as a communication bridge between the community, the party, and the government,” he stressed.

Teo reiterated his full support for Tiong to defend the Dudong seat in the coming state election.

“Under his leadership, supported by PDP leaders and the service team in Dudong, the constituency has seen significant progress. With continued people-centric policies, the area’s future remains promising,” he said.

On another matter, Teo urged the government to resolve the recurring water supply issues affecting rural parts of Dudong, with rural residents often facing prolonged supply disruptions lasting for several days to one or two weeks.

He also called on the government to expedite the upgrading of Jalan Kong Yit Khim into a four-lane dual carriageway.

“With the opening of the Sibu Jaya Highway, traffic volume has surged, and the current road system is no longer adequate. Jalan Kong Yit Khim is now congested and urgently needs expansion,” he added.

He further appealed to telecommunication companies to improve network and internet services in Durin, noting that frequent disruptions continue to affect residents, particularly schools.

Meanwhile, during the AGM, Teo retained his position as chairman for the 2026-2029 term, while Amping Ranggau was elected as his deputy.

Others elected were Richard Sandah (vice-chairman I), Jonathan Gerunsin Rangau (vice-chairman II), Tuai Rumah Udin Nasat (vice-chairman III), Councillor Simon Wee (secretary), Basa Gali (assistant secretary), Councillor Ting Ping Kiong (treasurer), Teo Boon Chuen (assistant treasurer), Macmilllan Kumbong (organising secretary) and Yii Souk Ming (information chief).

The youth chief post went to Councillor Teo Ming Pau, while the women’s chief is Liew Muk Moi. The committee members are Lee Pak Leong, Wong Hie Ping, Majang Ngadan, Kebin Akul and Berendam Selia.
