KOTA KINABALU (March 23): CelcomDigi Business has entered a strategic collaboration with Sabah-based dessert and fast-food chain Chunk & Dunk to reinforce efforts to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in strengthening digital capabilities and scaling operations in an increasingly connected economy.

In a statement on Monday, CelcomDigi Business said the initiative includes working with Chunk & Dunk founder Adam Shamil to showcase the journey of a modern Malaysian entrepreneur building a digital-first brand.

“Through Chunk & Dunk, Adam has grown the brand across East Malaysia and announced the opening of its first overseas outlet in the Philippines, reflecting the ambitions of today’s digitally driven entrepreneurs.

“By sharing these real-world experiences, CelcomDigi Business aims to inspire more Malaysian entrepreneurs to pursue new opportunities to grow their business beyond Malaysian shores and build resilient businesses for the future,” it said.

The collaboration was introduced during the Chunk & Dunk Global Premiere held in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah marking the brand’s latest milestone as it expands into new markets.

CelcomDigi chief enterprise business officer Afizulazha Abdullah said Malaysia is entering a new phase where local businesses are increasingly building brands that can compete beyond their traditional markets.

“We are seeing a new generation of Malaysian entrepreneurs who are thinking bigger, moving faster and building brands that are not confined by geography.

“Our role is to provide the digital infrastructure that supports this ambition, enabling businesses to operate seamlessly, reach customers across borders and grow with confidence.

“When Malaysian SMEs succeed beyond their local markets, it strengthens the country’s digital economy,” he said.

Adam said the collaboration reflects the growing belief among entrepreneurs that Malaysian brands can reach audiences far beyond their home base, adding that entrepreneurs today are “starting businesses very differently.”

“We build communities first, connect with customers online, and use that momentum to grow our brands.

“Chunk & Dunk began as a small idea, but the dream was always to go further. If this journey can show other entrepreneurs that Malaysian brands can grow beyond their hometowns and reach new markets, then that would mean a lot,” he added.

CelcomDigi said Adam will participate in selected CelcomDigi Business initiatives throughout the year, including SME-focused programmes, knowledge-sharing sessions and digital content.

It said these efforts will provide practical insights on brand-building, community engagement and navigating business expansion in today’s evolving marketplace.

As businesses adapt to evolving consumer behaviours and a more digitally driven marketplace, many SMEs are increasingly adopting technology to modernise operations and enhance customer engagement.

Through CelcomDigi Business, it said entrepreneurs have access to a suite of connectivity and digital solutions designed to support their growth at different stages of their business journey.
