KUCHING, Jan 21: A 27-year-old man’s attempt to secure a position in the Sarawak public service ended abruptly after he tested positive for methamphetamine during a job interview screening in Sibu.
According to TVS, a Facebook post by the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) Sibu District yesterday (Jan 20) stated that the man failed the initial urine test conducted as part of the interview process for a post under the Sarawak Public Service Commission (SPANS).
“His aspiration to join the public sector did not materialise when he was found to be positive for drugs during the interview session. The individual is now being investigated under Section 3(1) of the Drug Addicts and Drug Abusers (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act 1983,” the post said.
AADK said the arrest underscores the authorities’ firm stance in ensuring that prospective civil servants are free from drug abuse and prohibited substances before being absorbed into the public service.
The agency added that enforcement efforts will continue to be intensified in line with the national goal of achieving a Drug-Free Malaysia by 2030. — DayakDaily
