KOTA KINABALU (Feb 21): Strong cooperation between the government and community organisations such as the Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS) is vital in safeguarding the well-being of the state, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor.

He said such collaboration would help strengthen social stability while advancing the people’s economy.

“This is in line with the state government’s aspirations under the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya, which consistently emphasises inclusive and balanced development so that all races and communities benefit from the state’s progress,” he said at the FCAS Angpow Festival at the Hakka Hall here this evening.

His speech was delivered by Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Joachim Gunsalam.

Hajiji noted that FCAS, which comprises 160 Chinese associations from across Sabah and the Federal Territory of Labuan, plays a significant role in preserving cultural heritage, strengthening unity, and contributing to the state’s social and economic development.

He described the Angpow Festival as more than just a festive occasion, calling it a symbol of unity, goodwill and togetherness among Sabah’s multi-racial community.

“Our presence tonight reflects the harmony that has long been Sabah’s strength.

“Therefore, the state government greatly appreciates the close cooperation established between the government and the FCAS in various fields, including education, social welfare, cultural activities, and community development in this state,” said Hajiji.
