KUCHING: The Sarawak Skills Development Centre, also known as Sarawak Skills, remains committed to providing training and supporting talent development to meet the demands of future industries.
Tan Sri Datuk Amar (Dr) Abdul Aziz Datuk Husain, Chairman of the Sarawak Skills Management Council, stated that this effort is part of Sarawak Skills’ strategy to cultivate a skilled workforce in technical and specialized fields to compete in the global job market.
He elaborated that the growth of this industry presents opportunities for young people, especially school leavers, to secure promising jobs in the technical sector.
“We have various major projects being developed by the Sarawak government, such as hydrogen development and the Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) system in Sarawak.
“Hence, we require experts with technical skills to meet the demands of the expanding industry,” he said.
He made these comments to reporters following a courtesy call on Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia on today (Aug 21).
Abdul Aziz further clarified that the purpose of the courtesy call was also to invite Abang Johari to the 30th-anniversary celebration of Sarawak Skills, scheduled for Aug 23 at the Riverside Majestic Hotel here.
