KOTA KINABALU (Jan 12): Police have confirmed the discovery of the bodies of a female student and a teenage boy, believed to be her boyfriend, in a car at the Bandar Sejati Walk parking area in Sandakan on Sunday.

Sandakan deputy police chief Supt K. Ramasamy said acting on public information, a team was dispatched to the location where initial checks revealed all car windows were tightly closed and locked, while the victims’ valuables remained inside the vehicle.

“The 17-year-old girl was found with the 18-year-old boy in the back passenger seat of the vehicle, both unconscious and later confirmed dead.

“The male victim left his home on Friday to meet the female student, after which both could not be reached. The boy’s father later found the car at the parking area and discovered both victims after opening the door with a spare key,” he said in a statement.

Ramasamy said initial investigations found no sign of foul play, with police classifying the case as sudden death.

Both bodies were sent to Duchess of Kent Hospital in Sandakan for post-mortem, he added.
