KOTA KINABALU (Dec 31): Sabah Ports Sdn Bhd (SPSB), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Suria Capital Holdings Berhad, proudly marks a significant milestone in Sabah’s cruise tourism sector with the successful return of cruise activities to Kudat Port, highlighted by a rare treble port call achieved through a single cruise voyage.

This notable event underscores Kudat Port’s growing role as an emerging cruise destination in northern Sabah and reflects Sabah Ports’ continued commitment to supporting tourism recovery, regional connectivity, and sustainable port development.

The voyage, which made three port calls during its itinerary, represents renewed confidence among cruise operators in Sabah’s port infrastructure, operational readiness, and destination appeal.

The return of cruise vessels to Kudat is expected to generate positive economic spill over for local communities, including opportunities for small businesses, tour operators, and cultural stakeholders.

Kudat Port’s strategic location near iconic attractions such as the Tip of Borneo positions it as a unique gateway for cruise passengers seeking authentic cultural and nature-based experiences. Sabah Ports continues to work closely with relevant stakeholders to enhance port facilities, streamline passenger handling, and promote Sabah as a preferred cruise destination in the region.

This achievement aligns with Sabah Ports Sdn Bhd’s broader vision to strengthen Sabah’s maritime ecosystem, support tourism-led economic growth, and position the state as a competitive player in regional cruise itineraries.

Coral Geographer, the vessel, berthed first at Sandakan Port on Christmas Day, Kudat Port on 26th December and Kota Kinabalu Port on 27th December. Measuring approximately 93.4 metres in Length Overall (LOA). On board were 80 guests, visiting as part of the ship’s multi-country voyage.
