KUCHING: The Datuk Amar Juma’ani Bridge at Sungai Bintangor has been recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) as Malaysia’s first, tallest and longest three-legged cable-stayed bridge, reflecting the growing engineering capability within Sarawak’s public works sector and the delivery of complex infrastructure projects.

Delivering his winding-up speech during the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) sitting today, Second Minister for Finance and New Economy Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the achievement by the bridge project is among several recent accolades received by agencies under his Ministry, demonstrating improved technical capacity and innovation in project implementation.

He added that the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) has been awarded the 5-Star Digital Excellence Award 2025 in recognition of its progress in digital transformation and service delivery, and has further strengthened its international standing after being accepted as a Global Member of the International Road Federation for 2026.

On port development, he said the Miri Port Authority received the Silver Award under the Public Service Innovation Asia category at the 25th Malaysia Technology Expo.

Uggah who is also Sarawak Deputy Premier said the recognition was given for its shore power facilities which support energy efficiency measures and align with green port initiatives.

“These achievements collectively reflect the capability of Sarawak’s infrastructure-related agencies in adopting innovation and improving service efficiency.

“Such recognition creates opportunities to strengthen international collaboration and enhance technical expertise in delivering more sustainable infrastructure and public services for the State,” he said. — DayakDaily
