KUCHING (Nov 30): The Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) has announced that the next DBKU X-Games will be held on a larger scale next April, featuring both national and international athletes.

Kuching North Datuk Bandar Dato Hilmy Othman said the five-day programme will be held in collaboration with Canroll Pro Action Sports Festival and the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development (Mysed) at the vibrant Padang Merdeka and Kuching Waterfront.

“Together with the organisers and Mysed, we will be holding another event in April 2026 at a more vibrant location which is the Padang Merdeka and Kuching Waterfront.

“This programme will run for five days and will be more challenging, with participants from Peninsula, our own state, as well as international players.

“With the involvement of international athletes, the event will be elevated to an even higher level,” he told the reporters.

He said DBKU will begin promotional efforts earlier to attract international participants as well as athletes from all states across Malaysia.

“We will also carry out earlier promotions to attract and receive international athletes,” he said.

He further added that this initiative is also aimed at preparing local athletes ahead of the upcoming SEA Games, where the state is expected to co-host several events, including hosting DBKU X-Games into an annual event.

“We are providing opportunities for them to receive support from organisers of sports related to these extreme disciplines. We are also making efforts to prepare our athletes.

“This event will also become an annual event organised by DBKU and the organisers, whether at the national or international level. We hope our aspirations for a broader and more extensive organisation will be achieved,” he said.

The announcement was made following the successful hosting of DBKU X-Games 2.0 at Skatepark Stadium here on Saturday and Sunday.

The two-day event saw participation from 20 rollerblade athletes, 18 skateboarders, six BMX flatland and six BMX stunt athletes.
