LAWAS (Dec 11): Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan has directed all departments and agencies in the Limbang Division to strictly follow the proper reporting format when submitting progress updates for development projects.
Speaking after chairing the Limbang Division Development Action Committee Meeting at the Lawas District Council on Wednesday, Awang Tengah emphasised that consistent and accurate reporting is essential to pinpoint problems during implementation and determine the most effective solutions.
“When reports follow the correct format, we can clearly see where the issues are and resolve them more efficiently,” said Awang Tengah, who is also the State Second Minister for Natural Resources and Urban Development.
He has instructed every implementing agency to submit detailed lists of projects – categorised as progressing smoothly, completed ahead of schedule, or delayed.
“Some projects are moving very well, some are still under construction, and others remain at the planning stage.
“I have asked them to explain the causes of delays and to propose ways to expedite the work,” he said.
The Bukit Sari assemblyman also highlighted the importance of recognising successful projects that were completed earlier than scheduled, noting that these served as benchmarks for improving delivery across other projects.
He stressed that delayed projects require immediate attention, with agencies tasked to identify weaknesses and coordinate practical solutions without further hold-up.
“We must find out why delays happen, identify shortcomings, and discuss how to rectify them. And all these require us to follow the correct reporting format,” he added.
The six-hour meeting was attended by Lawas MP Dato Henry Sum Agong, Batu Danau assemblyman Datuk Paulus Palu Gumbang, Limbang Resident Unus Tambi, political secretary to the Premier Awangku Jinal Abedin Dato Pengiran Jawa, Lawas District Officer Ladin Atok, and heads of state and federal departments in the division.
