KUCHING (Feb 4): All Sarawak Games (Suksar) IV 2026 events are expected to proceed as scheduled unless the technical delegation chief (KDT) decides otherwise.

Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) acting chief executive officer Khairul Nizam Morshidi said this is despite the current unpredictable weather conditions.

“If the weather conditions are too unfavourable, we will leave it to the decision of the KDT. If they decide to postpone, then we have no choice but to do so.

“Nevertheless, we pray for good weather throughout Suksar so that the tournament can be organised successfully,” he said in a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) report.

This followed the full rehearsal for the Suksar IV 2026 opening ceremony at the Tan Sri Datuk Amar Stephen Kalong Ningkan Sports Hall in Betong on Tuesday.

Deputy Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development and Suksar IV chairman Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu is scheduled to officiate at the opening on Wednesday, while Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to officially close the event at the Indoor Stadium, Sri Aman Sports Complex on Sunday (Feb 8).

Suksar IV, which covers 11 sports, will be held in Sri Aman, Betong, and Lubok Antu.

Cycling, pétanque, and softball will be held outdoors, while weightlifting, netball, karate, sepak takraw, basketball, boxing, taekwondo, and table tennis will be held indoors.

Sri Aman will host table tennis, basketball, pétanque, softball, and boxing; while Betong will stage cycling, weightlifting, taekwondo, and netball competitions, while sepak takraw and karate will be held in Lubok Antu.

There will be 105 events involving a total of 796 athletes from the Northern, Southern, Western, and Central zones.
