KUCHING, April 14: Diesel supply in Malaysia remains stable, with reported shortages being isolated cases caused by logistical disruptions rather than actual supply shortages.

Speaking to reporters last night (April 13), Minister of Domestic Trade and Costs of Living (KPDN) Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali assured that overall fuel supply, including in Sabah and Sarawak, is sufficient and under control.

“However, to ensure continuity, stability and security of supply, we are making sure there are no disruptions and no leakages in the supply chain,” he said when met after the Jualan Rahmah Madani Programme (PJRM) in Puncak Borneo. A recording of his remarks was later shared with DayakDaily.

Armizan, who is also Papar MP, further explained that global energy pressures have made supply security more complex, as some countries are aggressively securing fuel resources, increasing competition in the market.

He stressed that any weaknesses in the supply chain could affect distribution, even if supply levels are sufficient.

On reports of diesel shortages at certain locations, he said these were isolated cases linked to delays in logistics, particularly involving movement from ports to depots and petrol stations.

“It is actually related to issues where, although supply is available, there are disruptions in delivery timelines — from ports to depots and then to petrol stations due to certain emerging issues.

“There have been some cases in Peninsular Malaysia, and also in Sabah, but they were resolved within a short period,” he added.

Armizan also said the ministry is closely monitoring the situation daily and urged the public to report any petrol stations experiencing stock shortages through official complaint channels.

“We will work with oil companies and petrol stations to ensure supply is delivered to affected areas,” he said.

Also present were Puncak Borneo MP Datuk Willie Mongin, KPDN Enforcement director-general Datuk Azman Adam, KPDN Sarawak director Matthew Dominic Barin and Padawan Sub-district Officer Julius Scott Sapong. — DayakDaily
