PENAMPANG (March 16): Deputy Chief Minister III cum Minister of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport, Datuk Ewon Benedick has contributed RM200,000 to support the construction of a new Tadika Harmoni complex at St Michael Parish Penampang.

The contribution, channelled through his Sentuhan Kasih Menteri allocation and his allocation as Penampang MP, was presented to parish priest Fr Wilfred Atin during a brief visit to the parish office here on Monday.

Ewon said he had earlier pledged to assist the project when members of the Tadika Harmoni Development Committee paid him a courtesy call.

“During the committee’s earlier visit to me, I expressed my commitment to contribute funding from my allocations.

“Therefore, I am fulfilling that commitment today by presenting RM200,000 from my allocations as a minister and as the Penampang MP to the committee,” he said.

On Dec 20 last year, Ewon joined a site visit to the Tadika Harmoni construction site to observe the progress of the project.

The preschool complex, estimated to cost about RM9 million, is being developed through public fundraising efforts but still requires additional financial support to ensure the project can continue and be fully completed.

Once completed, the modern landscape-designed building is expected to accommodate up to 500 pupils.

Tadika Harmoni is one of two kindergartens under St Michael Parish.
