KUCHING (March 27): Retired DSP Earnest Sadan Jubang has been conferred the Pingat Jasa Pahlawan Negara (PJPN) in recognition of his service and contributions during the 1948 to 1990 communist insurgency period.
Earnest, 80, received the medal from Kuching district police chief Alexson Naga Chabu during the 219th Police Day celebration for the Kuching district police headquarters on Wednesday.
The PJPN is awarded to members of the security forces who served during the insurgency era in recognition of their role in safeguarding national security.
Earnest expressed gratitude for the honour, saying he shared the recognition with his family and those who supported him throughout his service.
“I am deeply honoured to receive this recognition. I share this honour with all who have supported me throughout my journey, especially my family,” he said in a statement shared by his daughter yesterday.
His daughter Councillor Wendy Earnest Sadan said the award reflects her father’s commitment, discipline and years of dedicated service.
She described him as a role model who demonstrated resilience, humility and strength of character throughout his life.
“This recognition marks not only a personal milestone, but also a proud moment for our entire family,” she said.
During his service, Earnest also served as aide-de-camp to the then police commissioner in 1968.
