TATAU (Sept 21): The family of the six-year-old Cicilia Julan Intik who was attacked by a crocodile, conducted a ‘miring’ (traditional ritual meant to seek blessings) today to expedite the process of finding the victim.
Tatau Police chief DSP Jame Reis said the ritual is in accordance with Iban community beliefs.
“It is understood that the victim’s family conducted a miring ceremony today, meant to seek blessings, so as to locate the victim,” he said, adding that the search and rescue operation (SAR) for the victim entered its fourth day today.
He added that the search radius has been extended to seven kilometres upstream and downstream.
“Any developments or new discoveries related to this incident will be updated from time to time,” he said.
In the incident that occurred on Wednesday afternoon, Cicilia was attacked by a crocodile when bathing in the river with her grandfather and two friends.
