Family of six rescued after vehicle stranded in Tambunan floods

KOTA KINABALU (Feb 23): Two children were among six family members rescued on Saturday night after their vehicle became trapped in floodwaters in Kampung Piasau, Tambunan.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said they received a distress call at 10.45pm and dispatched a team from the Tambunan fire station to the loca-tion.

“A total of eight firefighters carried out the rescue, and evacuated the victims to a nearby house.

“Those rescued comprised two adult men, two adult women and two boys from one family,” it said in a statement, adding no injuries were reported.

The rescue operation concluded around 12.20am on Sunday.
