KUCHING (Jan 10): The family of a Sarawakian woman, who has been missing for nearly two months, has sought the assistance of Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Public Complaints Bureau chief Milton Foo to trace her whereabouts.
The woman, identified as Ellen Ng, 34, reportedly left home on Nov 8 at around 9.30am, asking her father to drive her to Kuching International Airport for a supposed training trip to Hong Kong.
However, her company later confirmed that no such training was scheduled, leaving her family uncertain about the real purpose of her trip.
Ng briefly contacted her younger brother on Nov 10 to assure him that she was fine, but communication stopped shortly after.
A police report was lodged on Nov 13.
She made a final contact on Nov 14, sending an address in Hong Kong via Google Maps, but not a live location, making her exact whereabouts impossible to verify.
No contact has been made since mid-November.
Foo said he had reached out to the Sarawak office of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, but Hong Kong authorities had yet to provide updates.
“The immediate priority is to confirm whether Ng ever entered Hong Kong, starting with immigration and travel records,” he told a press conference at the SUPP headquarters here.
“Once we have confirmed the last point of exit from Malaysia and the destination country, we should be able to narrow down her whereabouts,” Foo said, while urging the relevant authorities to review airport and airline records.
Foo reminded the public, particularly young people, to always inform their families before travelling overseas, and warned against high-paying overseas job offers, highlighting risks of scams and human trafficking.
