KOTA KINABALU (Jan 12): The Civil Defence Force (APM) and other relevant agencies are continuing to closely monitor flood water levels in Beaufort following on-going flooding in the district.

Follow-up monitoring checks were conducted yesterday to assess current water levels and evaluate potential risks to residents in flood-prone locations, including Kampung Lago, SK Suasa, Kampung Kangsa, and Jalan Bangkalalak.

In an update, the Sabah Disaster Command Centre (SDCC) said the flood situation in Beaufort remained unchanged as of noon, with two permanent relief centres (PPK) still in operation.

A total of 138 households involving 366 affected residents are currently housed at the Selagon Hall PPK in Beaufort, and Sri Dayang Shahbandar Hall PPK in Padas Damit.

Authorities confirmed that no fatalities have been reported, with the overall number of evacuees remaining stable over the past 24 hours, indicating that flood conditions are being effectively managed despite continued high water levels in certain areas.

“Residents in low-lying and flood-affected areas are advised to remain vigilant, follow official instructions, and be prepared to evacuate if directed by authorities.

“Monitoring efforts will continue until water levels recede and the situation is deemed safe,” said the SDCC.
