MIRI (Feb 12): A total of 600 community leaders and village chiefs (KMKK) and village safety and development committees (JKKKs) from Beluru District and Tinjar Sub-District came together for a full-day management briefing aimed at strengthening governance, integrity and administrative efficiency at the grassroots level.

The programme, held at the Beluru District Community Hall on Tuesday, gathered Pemanca, Penghulu, village heads and JKKKs for a series of talks by key government agencies.

Among the highlights included briefings on anti-corruption prevention by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Miri Branch, compliance with stamp duty and e-invoicing by the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) Miri, as well as sessions on disaster management and the role of community leaders in conveying government policies.

State Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Sarawak (Local Government) and Marudi assemblyman Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil, who officiated at the event, said such platforms were vital to ensure that community leaders carried out their duties responsibly.

“Programmes like this create awareness and help community leaders understand the latest regulations so they can serve their villages more effectively,” he said.

Penguang added that numerous development projects had been and were being actively implemented in Beluru and Tinjar.
