KUCHING (Aug 25): Gamuda Berhad (Gamuda), through its foundation – Yayasan Gamuda, continues offering full scholarships, with over 70 per cent of this year’s recipients from the B40 income group, including wider representation from East Malaysia.
In a press release, Gamuda said this demonstrates the corporation’s commitment to equal opportunities and inclusivity in education, with this year’s programme marking a substantial step forward in supporting Malaysia’s indigenous communities.
“A total of 21 scholarships have been awarded to these groups, which include five Orang Asli from Peninsular Malaysia, 12 Orang Asal from Sabah, and four from Sarawak.
“The scholarship also saw an increase in regional distribution, benefitting 28 scholars from Sabah in general (which include the 12 Orang Asal scholars), amounting to RM4.8 million,” it said.
Gamuda Group managing director Dato’ Lin Yun Ling said education remains a powerful tool for empowerment and social mobility.
“Gamuda Scholarship continues to level the playing field for deserving students as we have significantly increased our investment to RM30 million, from RM20 million last year, for 123 students, from 79 students last year.
“The programme helps students excel in their skillsets so that they can thrive in any operating environment, unlocking their full potential,” Lin said.

It is understood that the scholars are pursuing diverse courses that span the spectrum of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields, including construction and digital technology, IT-related science and environmental science.
Additionally, scholarships are awarded for studies in quantity surveying, finance and accounting, marketing and communications, architecture and urban planning, and psychology.
Gamuda recognises its high-potential talent comes from a blend of scholars across various disciplines. Upon graduation, these scholars have promising career prospects within Gamuda’s diversified businesses, spanning different regions.
Since its inception in 1996, the Gamuda Scholarship has supported more than 763 students, creating a robust pipeline of high-potential talent for the company and the nation.
As Gamuda grows, this expanded scholarship programme underscores its commitment to nurturing capable Malaysians and contributing to the country’s development.
