KUCHING (Oct 18): The Borneo International Water and Wastewater Exhibition and Conference (BIWWEC) 2024 will bring together leading experts to share insights, case studies, and advancements.
To take place on Oct 23-25, the notable speakers include Swinburne University senior lecturer in civil (environmental) engineering Dr Matthew Wong, who specialises in wastewater and solid waste management.
He will present his latest findings on ‘Physicochemical characteristics of grease-trap wastewater with different potential mechanisms of FOG solid formation, separation, and accumulation inside grease traps’ on Oct 24.
Gilian Blythe, CEO of Water New Zealand – which puts particular focus on drinking water, wastewater, and storm water – will share her expertise in a paper titled ‘Moving to a more financial sustainable water sector – A New Zealand Perspective’, offering vital insight into innovative practices in wastewater management.
Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) senior principal research scientist Dr Tim Malthus, with a focus on remote sensing of water quality and field spectroscopy, will share his groundbreaking research on ‘The challenges to implementation of extensive in situ water quality monitoring networks’.
His recent work on tools for detecting harmful algae blooms in both inland and coastal waters has significant implications for environmental protection and public health.
With a line-up of over 60 speakers, BIWWEC 2024 with co-located conferences MYWinHR and SUTCON, will deliver a diverse range of presentations tackling water-related technologies, case studies, and challenges faced in both underdeveloped regions and urban areas.
It aims to inspire collaborative solutions to pressing water management issues.
