TUARAN (Nov 29): Caretaker chief minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor has called on registered voters in the state to ensure they vote.
The Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) chairman made the appeal through the media after casting his vote at SK Serusup here.
Hajiji, who is also Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) president, arrived at the school around 11.30am accompanied by his wife Datin Seri Panglima Juliah Salag.
“I received early reports that the voting process is running smoothly, peacefully, and in an orderly manner. Although many candidates are contesting, harmony has been maintained.
“Therefore, I urge the public to come out early to vote because we are concerned that it may rain in the afternoon,” he said.
Hajiji is facing four other candidates in Sulaman — Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Dr Shahnon Rizal Thaijuddin; Moktar Hussin (Parti Warisan); Pajudin Nordin (Parti Impian Sabah); and Tiaminah @ Siti Aminah Ele (Perikatan Nasional).
There are 18,352 registered voters in the constituency.
In 2020, Hajiji polled 5,919 votes to win by a 3,099-vote majority against two other candidates.
He has held the Sulaman seat since 1990.
