KUCHING, May 22: Majority meteorology stations in Sarawak have recorded a maximum temperature of 34 degrees Celsius (°C) and above yesterday (May 21), with three areas recording maximum temperatures of above 35°C.
According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia), the meteorology station in Sibu recorded the highest maximum temperature of 35.9°C, not just in Sarawak, but throughout Malaysia.
Meanwhile, the stations in Sri Aman and Mulu recorded 35.8°C and 35.3°C, respectively.
The stations in Kapit and Kuching both recorded a maximum temperature of 34.7°C, while Miri, Bintulu, and Limbang recorded 34.5°C, 34.3°C, and 34.2°C, respectively.
However, the station in Mukah recorded the lowest maximum temperature at 33.1°C.
In terms of rainfall distribution, Sri Aman recorded 2.2mm, followed by Sibu (1.8mm) and Mulu (1mm).
Additionally, Sri Aman has been placed under a Level 1 heatwave status after recording daily temperatures between 35°C and 37°C for three consecutive days.
