KUCHING, April 27: Malaysian destinations including Sarawak are gaining renewed attention from Indonesian travel platform Travel4All, as part of efforts to diversify tourism offerings beyond mainstream locations such as Kuala Lumpur and Melaka.

Malaysian Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture Dato Sri Tiong King Sing said he recently held discussions with Travel4All to explore broader cooperation in strengthening Malaysia’s tourism presence in Indonesia.

“The demand from Indonesian travellers for multi-destination travel schedules and experience-based tourism continues to increase.

“Apart from popular destinations such as Kuala Lumpur and Melaka, the platform is also beginning to promote less-highlighted destinations such as Negeri Sembilan, Kelantan and Sarawak to provide more diverse travel options,” he said in a Facebook post today.

Travel4All is among Indonesia’s leading travel platforms, working with around 360 travel agencies and operating the “Mampir Malaysia” online platform serving both B2B and B2C markets. The platform provides a one-stop service covering flights, hotel accommodation and tour packages.

In addition, Tiong said education tourism and long-stay programmes are emerging as important growth segments, driven by increasing interest among Indonesian students in pursuing studies and short-term learning programmes in Malaysia.

He said potential collaboration includes student exchanges, university visits and educational tours, which could further expand youth travel flows.

On the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) sector, Tiong said Malaysia will continue providing support and incentives through relevant agencies to encourage more organisations to choose the country as a destination for MICE.

He also highlighted the importance of improving travel facilitation and service quality, including immigration procedures and handling of group travellers, to ensure a smoother visitor experience.

“Shopping tourism, gastronomy, as well as health and lifestyle tourism were also identified as key future promotional segments,” he stated. — DayakDaily
