SIBU (Aug 30): The Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang (KMJG) 2024 convoy can act as a platform to ignite the spirit of patriotism through the ‘1 House 1 Jalur Gemilang’ (1R1JG) campaign, said Information Department Sarawak director Helmy Hamid.
He said the initiative symbolises unity, while making a significant impact on the community in appreciating and preserving the spirit of harmony, peace, prosperity and political stability.
“The KMJG convoy carries the mission and spirit of nationalism by waving the Jalur Gemilang, accompanied by patriotic songs throughout their journey across Sarawak, symbolising unity and togetherness in strengthening the spirit of patriotism among the people regardless of age, race, religion and beliefs.
“Therefore, I call upon all Malaysians, especially the people in the Sibu District, to unite in the spirit of ‘Segulai Sejalai’ by flying the Jalur Gemilang in government buildings, schools, shopping malls, residential areas, villages, longhouses and even along the roads of our homes as a sign of love and pride for Malaysia, our beloved country, in a spirit of harmony,” he said.
Helmy was speaking at the flagging-off of the KMJG 2024 convoy at the Malaysian Muslim Welfare Organisation (Perkim) Sibu branch at Jalan Bandung yesterday.
Perkim Sibu chairperson Datin Sharifah Zaidah Syed Abdul Aziz officiated at the function.
Adding on, Helmy said in conjunction with the 2024 National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM) celebrations, the Ministry of Communications through Information Department Sarawak has planned various programmes to ignite the spirit of patriotism, particularly among the younger generation.
On a separate matter, he cautioned against the detrimental impact of social media on the minds of the people, especially the youth.
“Therefore, I urge the younger generation today, who are the pioneers of science and technology, to positively and wisely utilise the variety of social media applications and advanced digital technology to maintain the momentum of love for the country.” was able to ensure that efforts.
