KUCHING (Feb 25): Phase 4 of the Inland Revenue Board’s (IRB) rollout of e-Invoice will involve about 10,000 companies in Sarawak.
IRB chief executive officer Datuk Dr Abu Tariq Jamaluddin said this is part of the board’s continued efforts to strengthen the nation’s tax digitalisation agenda.
The latest phase forms part of the agency’s broader tax transformation initiative aimed at enhancing transparency, efficiency, and tax compliance among companies.
“Approximately 10,000 companies in Sarawak under Phase 4 will take part in the e-Invoice initiative,” he said in a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) report.
He said this after leading a delegation to pay a courtesy call on Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Satria Pertiwi Complex in Petra Jaya here.
At the national level, nearly 200,000 companies across Malaysia have been brought into the e-Invoice system, with the total number of digital documents received surpassing one billion, he said.
Abu Tariq said IRB is also encouraging companies to participate in its Tax Corporate Governance programme, a strategic collaboration between the agency and the corporate sector to ensure best practices in governance and tax reporting.
On access to e-Filing services, particularly in rural areas, he said IRB continues to provide help through its network of offices and satellite offices throughout Sarawak.
“If there are difficulties in making submissions, our offices across Sarawak are ready to assist.
“The e-Filing system has long been implemented and compliance levels are high, but those still facing issues may visit any of our offices or satellite offices statewide,” he said.
During the meeting, Abu Tariq also introduced to the Premier to IRB Sarawak’s team led by director Abang Ehsan Abang Abu Bakar.
