KUCHING (Jan 25): Malaysian Muay Thai sensation Johan ‘Jojo’ Ghazali is set to return to action next month when he takes on Myanmar’s Ye Yint Naung in a flyweight showdown at ONE Friday Fights 141 in Bangkok.

According to a statement from ONE Championship, the three-round Muay Thai contest will take place at Lumpinee Stadium on Feb 6, and will be broadcast live during Asia primetime.

The bout marks Johan’s first appearance of the year after his planned opening fight of the 2026 season was cancelled following his opponent Sean Climaco’s withdrawal due to injury.

The fighter, who has strong ties to Sarawak, rose to prominence through ONE’s weekly series, where he recorded five straight wins and became the youngest athlete to secure a US$100,000 contract at the age of 16.

Now 19, Johan endured a challenging start to 2025 after suffering consecutive defeats to Johan “Panda Kick” Estupinan and Diego Paez. The setbacks prompted him to reassess his approach in the ring.

He, however, made an impressive comeback at ONE Fight Night 35 last September, when he defeated Morocco’s Zakaria El Jamari via walk-off technical knockout in under a round.

Training out of Rentap Muay Thai Gym in Kuching and Superbon Training Camp in Thailand, Johan showcased improved patience and precision in that bout while retaining his trademark power.

The upcoming fight will see him return to the platform where he first made his name, as he looks to kick-start another strong campaign.

Standing in his way is Yint Naung, a 20-year-old prospect making his promotional debut and the Myanmar fighter boasts a professional record of 29 wins and six losses and currently trains at Team Mehdi Zatout in Pattaya.

The contest represents a major opportunity for Yint Naung to announce himself on the international stage, while Johan aims to continue building momentum and reassert his position among the division’s rising stars.
