KUCHING (Sept 9): The second Kuching Autistic Association (KAA) Open Day, themed ‘Segulai Sejalai, Salam Autisme’, was successfully held here on Sept 7.
KAA in a statement said the programme served to inform and raise awareness about autism as well as the programmes offered by the association.
“This programme also provides opportunities for children, teenagers and adults with autism to showcase their talents and abilities through musical performances, painting, handicrafts, food and drink preparation and other activities.
“It also opens up opportunities for educators, parents, KAA strategic partners and the local community to be friendly with each other and share their experiences in the autism community,” it said.
Additionally, a briefing on the Takaful Insurance Scheme for the Disabled was presented by FWD Takaful Malaysia.
“This insurance scheme is much needed by parents who have disabled children, but cannot apply for insurance,” it added.
During the Open Day, various activities and exhibitions were held, including arts and crafts, Garden Farm Project, photo booth, KAA programme information exhibition, and KAA Autism Art Gallery.
Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang was the guest of honour at the event.
Among KAA strategic partners present at the event were the Welfare Department (JKM), Sarawak Energy, London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), Sarawak Economic Development Corporation Energy, Hilton Kuching and Executive College Sarawak.
