KUCHING: Ken’s Kitchen, a popular establishment at Saradise in the city, recently hosted a successful blood drive in collaboration with the Sarawak General Hospital Blood Bank.

Yesterday (Dec 27), a total of thirty generous individuals stepped forward to donate blood, responding to the campaign’s call for support.

The event, which lasted from 9 am to 1 pm, took place at Ken’s Kitchen Saradise, drawing in participants from the local community.

Dr Lau Gong Quan, the physician overseeing the campaign, emphasised the primary objective of replenishing the blood supply at the hospital’s blood bank.

He also highlighted the significance of Ken’s Kitchen’s charitable endeavours, revealing that this marked the fourth blood donation drive organized by the establishment.

Dr Lau further expressed the centre’s commitment to encouraging greater participation in future blood donation campaigns, which are scheduled for the entire week.

Isaac Patrick Belly, a 22-year-old first-time donor, eagerly shared his experience of donating blood with a reporter.

“I was a bit nervous at first, but after completing the blood collection, I felt relieved. Hopefully, the blood I donated today can help those in need,” he said.

Another donor, Urania Joy Goh Sze Hui, aged 38, proudly stated that she was a frequent donor who had been actively involved in blood donation for many years. This marked her third donation of the year.

“My purpose of supporting this kind of activity is to contribute to a safe and secure life for others,” she said.

To express gratitude to the donors, Ken’s Kitchen provided them with a light refreshment after they completed their blood donations. This gesture served as a token of appreciation for their selfless acts.

The blood donation campaign will continue on December 28 and 29 at Ken’s Kitchen, offering two-time slots each day: from 8 am to 12:30 pm and from 2 pm to 4:30 pm.

Additionally, there are upcoming drives scheduled at Mile 4 Everrise on December 30, from 9 am to 2 pm, and at Emart Batu Kawa on New Year’s Eve during the same hours.

Although Ken’s Kitchen will be closed on New Year’s Day, a blood donation drive will still take place at Wisma Saberkas Ground Floor from 9 am to 2 pm.
