KENINGAU (Feb 11): A special coordination meeting was held between Keningau Hospital management and the district’s Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) as a proactive step to strengthen security, enhance operational coordination and improve medical and legal processes in the public interest.
The meeting, which took place at the hospital’s meeting room, was chaired by Keningau Hospital Director Dr Ridwan Hashim.
The PDRM delegation was led by District Police Chief Superintendent Yampil Garai.
In a statement, the hospital management said the meeting aimed to enhance synergy and operational coordination between both agencies to ensure that all procedures involving clients are carried out in an orderly, efficient and compliant manner.
Discussions focused on the handling and management of items suspected or confirmed to be prohibited, including clear procedures for handover, storage and documentation to ensure transparency and integrity in all processes.
The management of forensic cases was also given due attention, with emphasis on coordination of examination procedures, evidence collection and case referrals between the hospital and the police to ensure accuracy and transparency and accuracy in investigations.
The meeting further addressed the implementation and understanding of Keningau Hospital’s emergency code, particularly in situations requiring joint action between the hospital and PDRM to ensure swift and effective responses.
Meanwhile, case management under the One Stop Crisis Centre (OSCC), particularly involving victims of abuse or violence, was discussed with emphasis on protection, welfare and access to justice for victims.
Issues relating to bullying and other criminal cases were also among the key agenda items, including reporting procedures, follow-up actions and improvements in the preparation of medical reports to ensure completeness, accuracy and compliance with legal requirements.
Both parties agreed to continue strengthening communication, refining work procedures and enhancing professionalism in handling cases involving public interest.
“Keningau Hospital and PDRM Keningau reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing collaboration to ensure that client management is conducted smoothly, safely and effectively in line with their respective responsibilities in safeguarding public well-being and security,” read the statement.
