KUCHING (July 9): Konsortium Bumi Consultants and Services Sdn Bhd celebrated its 18th anniversary during a dinner gala at a hotel here on Sunday, which was attended by staff members, business partners and stakeholders.
The grand celebration was filled with activities such as karaoke sessions, lucky draws, live performances, cake-cutting and toast ceremonies, as well as presentation of awards.
The event commenced with an opening prayer led by the Association of Churches in Sarawak chairman The Right Reverend Datuk Danald Jute.
In his speech, the guest-of-honour Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil commended the company for its achievements in the construction sector throughout the past decades, which had earned them at least 20 awards at state and national levels.
“To me, there is nothing else that we can say other than congratulating the managing director Dato Janang Bungsu for his perseverance, efforts and dedication in making what Konsortium Bumi Consultants and Services is today.
“I understand that there have been many moments of ups and downs throughout the operation of the company, particularly amidst intense market competition, but he (Janang) remains confident that the company would continue to maintain its high standards in implementing all the projects awarded,” said Penguang.
In his remarks, Janang extended his appreciation to his staff and business partners, whom he hailed as having been instrumental in propelling the company towards greater heights since its establishment 18 years ago.
“Tonight, we gather here not only to celebrate the milestone that we have achieved, but also to reflect on our journey and give thanks for the many blessings that we have received along the way.”
Janang said the company had grown from having only six staff members when it started out, to managing a current workforce of over 200 people today.
“The company has also expanded its operations towards establishing subsidiaries in the environmental and landscape, as well as the oil and gas sectors.
“Our construction projects currently encompass residential houses, office buildings, schools, roads and bridges, telecommunication towers, and also the ART (Automated Rapid Transit) system.”
Janang also highlighted that his team had not ignored their role in supporting the community through its corporate social responsibility (CSR), in which the company had opened its doors to over 1,000 interns to date, helping them to gain exposure to the industry.
Other distinguished guests at the event were former deputy chief minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu Numpang and former state secretary Datuk Amar Jaul Samion.
