KUCHING, Feb 13: The Kota Kinabalu District Police Headquarters (IPD) has arrested two local men in connection with the discovery of a woman’s dismembered body parts, dumped at several locations in Indah Permai, Sabah, on Thursday (Feb 12).

In a statement, acting Kota Kinabalu police chief Syed Lot Syed Ab Rahman said witnesses during a 4.30pm operation in Kampung Sri Kenangan, Sepanggar, saw the victim run out of a house before being pulled back inside by a man.

At around 8.10pm on the same day, police arrested a 71-year-old man—believed to be the main suspect—at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital’s emergency unit. Later, at around 10.30pm, another man, aged 19, was also arrested at an apartment complex as he was believed to be involved in the incident.

Also seized were mobile phones, the clothes that were believed to be worn during the incident, and a Nissan X-Trail vehicle.

Police interrogations revealed that the main suspect admitted to his involvement in the incident, with the motive believed to stem from a personal relationship dispute and a demand for the return of engagement money.

Both suspects have been detained under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

The case came to light following the discovery of human remains at a rubbish dumping area in Indah Permai, Menggatal, on Thursday morning at 6.30am. Trash collectors found the arm and leg, which had fallen out of a garbage bag. At 11.40am, the head and torso were found at a separate dumping site nearby.

The body was believed to have been dismembered into seven parts, although an arm and leg have yet to be recovered. — DayakDaily
