KUCHING, March 24: Kuching City FC (KCFC) has formally requested the Malaysian Football League (MFL) to conduct a thorough investigation into the alleged omission of import player Scott Wood from the official match list, which the club says resulted from a technical error by match officials.

In a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) news, KCFC president and political chief secretary to the Premier of Sarawak, Dato Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, confirmed that the club has submitted an official statement to MFL, complete with a detailed chronology of events, for further action.

According to the club, when the official match list was registered, Scott Wood’s name was mistakenly omitted and replaced with Daniel Amier, who did not travel with the team due to injury.

“As we have stated before, we will pursue this matter in accordance with the rules, and we are asking MFL to carefully review the situation,” he said when asked by reporters during his Aidilfitri open house at Hikmah Hall, Petra Jaya, today.

The club believes the error may have arisen from a lapse or technical mistake on the part of the match officials, leading to Wood’s exclusion from the official roster.

KCFC hopes MFL will examine the matter fairly and comprehensively, and provide suitable recommendations and resolutions.

“We are requesting MFL to investigate this issue and propose appropriate solutions to our application,” he added.

The Aidilfitri open house was a lively affair, attended by people of diverse backgrounds and faiths, as well as several prominent leaders.

Among those present were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Deputy Minister of Utilities and Telecommunications Datuk Ibrahim Baki, Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law, MA63 and Federal-State Relations) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, along with other department heads. — DayakDaily
