KUCHING (Oct 9): The Kuching City Scout Council celebrated its 30th anniversary on Oct 6, commemorating three decades dedicated to youth development and community service.
Adviser Peter Chai highlighted the profound significance of this milestone, describing it as a source of inspiration for members to pursue even greater achievements in the future.
“This anniversary empowers all of us to ensure that the next 30 years bring more progress for the council and the scouts,” he said in a recent statement.
Since its establishment in 1994, the council has made a substantial impact on local scouting, nurturing skills, character and leadership among young people.
Chai also called upon members to work diligently to enhance participation, hailing the scout movement as ‘an ideal platform for character development’.
He also expressed hope for an increased presence of volunteers to promote scouting across Kuching, particularly within local communities.
Furthermore, Chai acknowledged the growing trust that the parents had in the council, as they allowed their children to join scouting and acquire valuable knowledge and life skills.
“It is heartening to see parents recognise the benefits of scouting for their children,” he added.
The anniversary celebration featured a variety of activities and presentations, showcasing the council’s achievements and the accomplishments of its members over the years.
Among those present were Chief Scout Commissioner of Sarawak, Capt Zainuddin Tan Sri Hamdan, and the principals and headmasters of several schools.
