KUCHING (Aug 28): Ten-year-old singing sensation Taylor Louise from Kuching is set to captivate audiences once again with her remarkable talent at the upcoming ‘Be A Star K-Pop Dance Concert Competition 2024’ on Sept 1.
Fresh off her gold medal win at the 27th World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA), Taylor will take the stage at the concert, which will be held at the Satok Ballroom of Hikmah Exchange Event Centre here, starting from noon.
“Preparation for the Be A Star K-Pop Dance Concert Competition has been going really well, and I can feel myself continuously improving,” she told reporters when met at the recent ‘Taylor Louise Mini Concert with Friends’ held at a hotel here.
Taylor shared that this year has been an incredible journey as she continues to pursue her dreams of becoming a professional singer and dancer.
“One of my goals is to be not only a talented singer but also a kind and good-hearted person. I want to become famous so I can take my parents on trips, as they have always been so kind to me,” she added.
Reflecting on her mini concert hosted by Reening Lau on Aug 23, which also featured performances by her ‘brothers and sisters’ Chien Ng, Ivan, Jayc Panganiban, Dell Lawrence, and Faith Fiance, Taylor expressed her excitement about performing in her hometown following her success at the WCOPA in Long Beach, United States.
“I feel so great, so alive again! It was so hard to achieve that goal (at WCOPA), and now I’m so happy to sing with my friends. Yippee!” she said.
Taylor expressed her gratitude to her ‘brothers and sisters’ who came to support her, saying: “I love you”.
When asked for her advice for young children who love to sing but are too shy to pursue their dreams, she said: “Never give up, have confidence, and be brave.
“There are so many people who will support you along the way.”
The Be A Star K-Pop Dance Concert Competition, now in its third edition, is organised by Junior Chamber International (JCI) Damai.
Some 30 groups, comprising approximately 200 dancers from Indonesia, Peninsular Malaysia, Miri, Sibu, Bintulu, and Kuching, will compete.
The contestants will be evaluated by international judges, including South Korea’s Yeojin, Thailand’s Ritthithep Saisuwan, and Indonesia’s Natya Shina.
The event will also feature merchandise booths and food stalls, creating a carnival-like atmosphere.
Additionally, the international judges will conduct a dance workshop at Star Studio Kuching on Aug 31, offering aspiring dancers the opportunity to learn from industry experts.
