KUDAT (Jan 29): Police here have crippled a housebreaking and theft gang with the arrest of five men suspected to have been involved in at least 13 cases.
Kudat police chief Supt Mohd Haris Ibrahim said the first two arrests were made near the Ko-Nelayan building and on Jalan Pantai Bak-Bak.
“Two men were arrested in the first raid on suspicion of being involved in housebreaking and theft activities around the district.
“Further investigation then led to the arrest of two more men on Jan 4 in Kampung Tanjung Kapor and Jalan Pinangsoo, while the fifth suspect was nabbed the following day at a petrol station on Jalan Tamalang,” he said in a statement.
Mohd Haris said the arrests enabled police to solve several housebreaking and theft cases that have been active since the beginning of the year.
He said various items, believed to be stolen goods and tools used by the suspects, were seized during the raids, while urine tested on three of the suspects came back positive for drugs.
The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking, Sections 379 and 380 for theft, and Section 447 for trespassing.
