KUALA LUMPUR (March 31): The Madani Government will continue to act proactively based on data and the current reality, including seeking the views of industry players as well as small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in addressing the global energy crisis.
This is to ensure that every action taken is comprehensive, balanced, and effective, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said in a post on X today.
He said the National Economic Action Council (MTEN) meeting chaired by him today took an in-depth look at the worsening global energy crisis and its implications on the national economy and people’s well-being.
Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, said the world is entering a more challenging and uncertain phase, and Malaysia is not spared from the impact.
“Hence we cannot afford to be complacent or too comfortable. We must equip ourselves with discipline, resilience, and a strong spirit of unity,” he said.
While acknowledging the challenges, the Prime Minister also emphasised that the fundamentals of the national economy remain strong and resilient.
At the same time, Anwar called on all Malaysians to strengthen the domestic economy.
“Prioritise local goods and support our entrepreneurs, as internal strength is the main defence in facing the global energy crisis following the conflict in West Asia.
“Insya-Allah, every decision will continue to be made responsibly and in the people’s interest,” he said.
Anwar said the government will strive to ensure the stability of energy supply is safeguarded, the economy continues to function well, and the welfare of the people is a priority in every action. – Bernama
